Preparation for Construction of a Bridge Crossing Mekong River on Track

Phnom Penh, July 9, 2024 – The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has announced that preparations for the construction of a bridge crossing the Mekong River are progressing well.

The China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), the contractor for the project, has already established locations for office operations, machinery warehouses, and storage for construction materials.

CRBC is also constructing a temporary port, which is now 80 percent complete, to facilitate the transport of construction materials to the site.

Situated to the southeast of Phnom Penh, the 3,700-meter bridge, which includes a 120-meter flyover, will connect the western Xi Jinping Boulevard with the future Phnom Penh-Bavet expressway.

The construction project, estimated to cost USD 230 million from the national budget, is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
